Stamped and Poured Concrete

Stamped and Poured Concrete

Home renovations are always exciting for homeowners as they can really create a look that is unique to their personal tastes. One of the most common additions to any home is the adding of concrete walkways, driveways, patios, slabs, or paths. Poured concrete pieces truly are a great way to give any home and yard personality. However, when a homeowner is considering this type of service, they may not consider the different patterns that can be apart of stamped and poured concrete projects. While the concrete itself is a great way to make any yard look great, stamped and poured concrete is practically limitless when it comes to how it gets stamped.

What is Concrete Stamping?

Concrete stamping gives plain, smooth concrete a definitive and distinct look with artful patterns. These patterns are put into the concrete while it is still wet, making it moldable and flexible into any kind of desired design. When it dries, the results are absolutely beautiful and gives a truly admirable piece of work to have in the yard. This service not only helps the homeowner create a look that reflects their own tastes but really represents the talent of the person doing the work!
Stamping and Poured Concrete Designs to Consider
When thinking about adding a piece of poured concrete to a property, knowing various stamped concrete patterns to add is helpful! While there are some basic designs out there, some homeowners may want something a bit more detailed or intricate-looking to really set their yards apart in the neighborhood! Below are some ideas to consider when thinking about stamped concrete designs!

  • Cobblestone Effect:
The cobblestone effect is a great choice for a vintage look to concrete. This variation creates a stone look to concrete and mimics old stone roadways of the past. Cobblestones are generally smaller stone looking pieces, however, depending on the size of the concrete piece, this design can be altered to represent the smaller stone pieces or even larger stone pieces. This outlining feature gives the illusion of raised cobblestone, making for a truly unique overall look!

  • Wooden Plank Effect:
There is a large appeal for wooden flooring, especially on decks and kitchen floors. Concrete should be no different and a stamped concrete effect can be created to showcase a wooden plank floor. The effect is placed in the poured concrete by alternating the wooden plank lines, just like hardwood floors would look inside of the house. This polished look is modern and chic and can make any concrete patio or walkway have a bit more personality!

  • Herringbone Effect:
This particular effect is pretty unique has it features small rectangles placed in a manner so that it looks like a zig-zag pattern in the concrete. It is perfect for a walkway concrete piece as it would look gorgeous leading up to a main doorway or porch area.

  • Euro Fan Effect:
This pattern has smaller rectangles placed within a fan shape that is layered among other fan shapes. The interlocking fan shapes really flow together nicely and make any stamped and poured concrete piece come alive!

  • Polished Coloring Effect:
Concrete projects can also obtain a polished look by the addition of various colorings and sheen overall look. Typically these can reflect a marbled look as well. While these are popular for indoor floors, the effect can be applied to patio concrete work or walkways as well. This type of application required a honed finish, which will help make it slip-resistant.
No matter what effect is chosen, homeowners can know that their stamped and poured concrete will reflect their personal tastes and really give their homes the flare and excitement of beautiful designs!
