Concrete Texture
Due to the concrete’s versatility, it can take almost any form and texture to enhance the aesthetic beauty and structure of a building. It provides a range of texture from smooth to rough touches that can be done with the use of various tools to turn a dull concrete to something amazing. There are multiple texture techniques to capture your desired look. Textured concrete can be obtained using the following: Stamping – This method uses rubbers or plastic stamps to be stamped into the surface of the concrete and acts as the mold for the concrete texture. It is usually designed to mimic brick, slate, wood and other materials. Brushed or broom finish – One of the most common texture is the perfectly roughened line on concrete. This method simply uses brooms that give either light or coarse texture depending on the bristles of the broom. It has a consistent texture that is very appealing to the eye. Stencil – This is a method similar to stamping but it only features a small difference in height across the concrete. It uses a thin roll of the desired pattern and presses it lightly onto the wet concrete. This provides a smooth texture with brick or stone-cut appearance. Salt Finish texture – For those who want a smooth yet buffed texture, this simple and inexpensive method spices up an otherwise plain concrete flatwork. It is obtained by inserting coarse rock salt crystals on fresh concrete and then washing the salt away leaving small holes which are perfect in patios or driveway. Exposed aggregates – This method exposes the pure beauty and uniqueness of the aggregates that may vary in shape and also color. This method removes the top layer of cement to reveal the underlying aggregate which is very durable and provides a skid-resistant surface. A surface that uses cement marked by visually attractive textures creates a new mood in spaces with a completely new appeal.
