FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How do i know HOW much concrete i need?
Calculating concrete:

Determine the thickness of the concrete.
Measure the length and width you wish to cover.
To calculate square footage, multiply the length by the width.
Convert inches thickness into feet to determine cubic feet
Multiply the thickness in feet by square footage to figure out cubic feet
Change cubic feet to cubic yards by multiplying to 0.037

Here's what the math looks like for a 10' by 10' concrete patio:

 10 x 10= 100 square feet
 4 ÷ 12 = .33
 100 x.33 = 33 cubic feet
 33x.037 = 1.22 cubic yards

Essentially you are solving for volume and then converting to cubic yards. For concrete, the formula for volume is as follows: length x width x thickness.
